I've been the firefighter.

I spent the first part of my career doing what most IT people do: solving problems, keeping systems running, being the person everyone called when something broke. I was good at it. And for a long time, that felt like enough.
But there's a ceiling that nobody tells you about when you're starting out.
You can be technically gifted, reliable, trusted by your team, genuinely good at what you do, and still feel stuck. Too senior to be just executing tasks, but not quite seen as a strategic voice in the room where decisions get made. You do real, complex work.
